Tom Kristensen Le Mans Series
When Tom Kristensen returned to Copenhagen after his third victory at Le Mans in 2001, he was met at the airport by Bo Bonfils. Tom Kristensen was driven into the city, where his fans awaited him, in Bo Bonfils’ old Riley MPH Racing Special from 1935 – the same model that won Le Mans in 1934.
Linked initially by their passion for cars and, later, watches, Bo Bonfils and Tom Kristensen became friends. This led, in 2001, to Tom Kristensen driving Bo Bonfils’ Riley at the Munkebjerg Hill Climb for veteran cars. Timing is of the essence in disciplines like these! Accordingly, they agreed that Bo Bonfils, with advice and input from Tom Kristensen, would design a racing watch – now known as the Tom Kristensen Le Mans watch.
