Alberto Meda |
Born in Lenno Tremezzina (Como) in 1945, he graduated in mechanical engineering at the Milan Polytechnic in 1969. After being the technical director of Kartell in the seventies, he dedicated himself to design, applying his experience in polyurethane resins and new materials in general. From 1979, as professional designer, he co-operates with Brevetti Gaggia and from 1981 for four years with Alfa Romeo Auto as planning director. At present he carries out his activity of designer with several companies: Alias, Alessi, Ansaldo Sistemi Industriali, Mandarina Duck, Cappellini, Cinelli, Colombo Design, Ideal Standard, Legrand, Luceplan, Kartell, Omron Japan, Philips, Tci, Uliveto, Vitra. So far he won two Compasso d’Oro awards.
7000 Tondo Series
Alberto Meda created a series of sleek watches called Tondo. This is an “all purpose” wrist watch you can wear both on elegant and informal occasions. It’s characterized by the strap fitted as a sandwich between the two shells of the case resulting in a formally uniform aspect of the whole despite the different materials used. The strap around the case is both decorative and functional as it protects the watch from possible side shock. |
